Mulin Jun Li received a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics from The University of Hong Kong. He is a Professor with the Department of Bioinformatics at School of Basic Medical Sciences, Tianjin Medical University. Mulin is a bioinformatics researcher with expertise in regulatory genomics. His research interests include the development of bioinformatics tools and resources for interpreting variant effects on different types of molecular traits and human complex diseases, and the dissection of biological mechanism of disease-causal regulatory variants using high-throughput functional genomics methods.

Shijie Zhang was awarded PhD from the Dept. of Computer Science, Tianjin University, in 2017. My research focusing on the areas of modelling and understanding the regulatory role of the noncoding functional elements of the human genome via machine learning (deep learning) methods, functional prediction and prioritization of regulatory variants.

Hongxi Yang received his Ph.D. in Public Health and Preventive Medicine from Tianjin Medical University in 2020. With expertise in statistical learning and human exposome, he focused on computational method development to understand interactions of genetic variants and environments . He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow in Dr. Mulin Li's lab at Department of Bioinformatics in Tianjin Medical University. His research interests fall in the intersection of computational biology, genetic epidemiology and disease prevention & management.

Yao Zhou is a PhD student in Bioinformatics. Before joining the lab, she received a bachelor's degree in Basic Medicine from Tianjin Medical University. She is working on identifing and functionally characterizing the context-specific and population-specific regulation of genetic variations on molecular phenotypes.

Jianhua Wang is a Ph.D. student majoring in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. He received his bachelor's degree in Basic Medicine from Tianjin Medical University. Jianhua became a member of the lab in January 2018 and is currently working on GWAS data and their integration with multi-omics data such as 3D genomics data.

Tianyi You is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Bioinformatics, Tianjin Medical University. Before joining the Mulin lab as a bioinformatics Ph.D. student in 2020, he received his B.S. and M.S. in the Department of Bioinformatics, Zheng Guo lab, Harbin Medical University. His past experiences included the research of cancer early diagnosis, prognosis prediction, and drug response prediction based on transcriptional and genomics data. He is interested in exploring the tissue-specificity of cancer driver mutations based on multi-omics data during Ph.D.’s study.

Xutong Fan joined the lab as a postgraduate in June 2020. He received his undergraduate degree in Bioinformatics from the Tianjin Medical University. He focuses on pathogenicity and positive selection study of causal regulatory variants for complex traits, as well as developing computational tools to locate or prioritize the disease causal variation.

Xianfu Yi received his Ph.D. in Genetics from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2012. His research area is on bioinformatics. With expertise in omics data analysis and human genetics, he focuses on integration of high-throughput sequencing data to understand molecular mechanisms of human disease, such as variant annotation, transcriptional regulation, and cancer evolution.

My research areas are in Computational Systems Biology. Particularly, I am interested in applying network biology approaches to understand the genotype-to-phenotype relationships in diseases. My current focuses are: 1) the tissue/cancer type-specificity of cancer driver mutations and its implications for therapeutic opportunities; 2) Aberrant alternative splicing mRNA isoforms in hematological malignancies.
